About
Emily Collins is a Yorkshire based Theatre Director and Dramaturg. She was recently Resident Director on the UK and International Tour of SIX: The Musical, and was Laboratory Associate Director at Nuffield Southampton Theatres from 2018-2020.
Emily’s previous work as a director includes: PLAY (The Customs House), Fledglings (Nuffield Southampton Theatres), Alcatraz (VAULT Festival), Cheer Up Slug (The North Wall); ITCH (The North Wall, Roundhouse, Green Man Festival); Border Control (Theatre 503, Norwich Arts Centre, Roundhouse); TILT (The Lyric Hammersmith); Clownfish (Arcola Theatre); Glaze, (Bunker Theatre) and JELLYFISH (Pleasance Theatre).

As an Assistant Director, Emily has assisted Michael Fentiman (CinderElla: A New Musical, Nuffield Southampton Theatres), Sam Hodges (The Audience, Nuffield Southampton Theatres); Clare Lizzimore (Snowflake; Arts at the Old Fire Station); Ria Parry (Fragment; Battersea Arts Centre and The North Wall Arts Centre), Lisa Blair (Jerusalem; The Watermill Theatre) and Clive Judd (SPARKS; Old Red Lion Theatre).
Emily is a script reader for the Bruntwood Prize and Sheffield Theatres: and has previously read for The Old Red Lion Theatre, Pint Sized and Theatre N16. She also teaches acting, improvisation and performance at Identity School of Acting, and has mentored for Arts Emergency and the Women In Theatre Network.
Emily is also an advocate for better freelance working rights and runs Artist Town Halls in Sheffield to explore more self sufficient ways of funding and producing work. In 2026 she founded the Creatives Walking Group, and was previously a researcher for the Mayor of London’s Creative Freelancers: Shaping London’s Recovery initiative.
